Very touching story between Evie, 18 year old military brat and her former stepdad turn lover baby daddy. Before Evie as to deal with heartbreak when Patton is a POW or presumed dead, Now Evie has college coming up, baby and her heartache to find a way to live life for her and their baby.

I absolutely loved this series. It was very touching. I hope to read more of Veronica's books. She is an amazing author.

Patton is a brave army man. He is willing to sacrifice his life for American freedom. He has a stepdaughter that he cares for when he is called to active duty. When he comes home for two weeks his stepdaughter knows something is up but Patton won't tell her. When she calls for his help he is there and she lays down the "law". She needs to know what is going on. Patton finally gives in and tells her which leads to more than either of them could have expected.

Evie is an 18 year old high school graduate. When her step dad comes home for a break she is confused. They are distant towards each other and it is killing her. She goes out with her boyfriend one night and over harsher dad talking to his friend. She knows that whatever is going on with her dad could get him killed when he leaves again. After calling for him to come rescue her they have a talk that leads to more than she could of ever dreamed of happening.

Will Patton come back to his daughter or will she be left parentless? Read to find out what happens.

It was actually a really good story for erotica. Only glaring mistake is that pregnant women don't go to the pediatrician for an ultrasound. They go to the obstetrician. Other than that it was good.

About the Author

Robin Brooke-Smith completed his PhD at the University of Birmingham in International Education Leadership. He was Principal of Edwardes College, University of Peshawar in Pakistan, Principal of the University of Toronto Schools and a Holgate Fellow at Grey College Durham University. He has taught at Shrewsbury School and Backwell School in Bristol, and was Assistant Director of the British Council in Tanzania. Most recently, he was Director of Consultancy Services at the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth at the University of Warwick. He is currently a writer and international educational consultant.

About the Author
Guido Crepax was born in Milan, Italy, in 1933. After acquiring a degree in architecture, he worked on publicity campaigns for such corporations as Shell and Dunlop and book covers and jazz LP jackets before contributing comics to the Italian magazine Linus in 1965. He went on to become one of Italy’s most important cartoonists, most famous for his psychedelic and erotic Valentina stories. He died in 2003.

Fantastic comics, beautiful presentation, awful editor.

This was my first proper encounter with Crepax's comics - I had seen images here and there online, but never read a full story. This is best possible way I can think of to experience this incredible artist. Fantagraphics' attention to detail and outright love for this art can be felt in every fibre of the book.

Crepax's work, to me, feels like a combination of Peellaert's eye for fashion with Pratt's sense of storytelling and Manara's always lustful gaze. It's hallucinatory, frequently surreal, but always compelling. The first half of the book are "horror" stories (really more like sci-fi, but let's not split hairs) featuring his signature protagonist Valentina. At first, she is merely a supporting character to Philip (a sort of superhero with magic eyes) but later becomes a much more developed figure in her own right.

The second half is devoted to adaptations of Dracula and Frankenstein. The vampire story is as beautiful and sensuous as one would think; all billowing lines and Gothic excess. Frankenstein is a stranger proposal, and comes from much later in Crepax's career where his line work was much looser and his figures more freeform. It's perhaps a little disappointing, but is still interesting to see the artist evolve 30 years in the turn of a page.

The sticking point, however, is the series editor. His introduction to the book reads like a 5th grader's essay on their favourite artist - all declarative sentences and Wikipedia-level information - with some outright bizarre claims that any actress with a bob haircut was clearly influenced by Valentina. His story notes are no better, pointing out mindless minutiae when what's really needed is context for the social and political milieu of Italy in the 60s. Compared to other series notes, such as RC Harvey's indispensable work on Pogo, this feels sophomoric and below Fanta's usual high standards.

I'm still looking forward to the next volume. Crepax is too important and too damn good to let ancillary material spoil his work.

Amazing collection of one of the greatest cartoonists ever.

I love Crepax-so much so that I have ordered his books from France and Italy in languages I don't speak. Now we have a beautiful, very large book of his work including Valentina and his adaptation of Dracula. Crepax version of Dracula is not only the best comic version but improves on the novel by trimming the boring parts and supplying stunning images capturing the weird sexual undertone.
Valentina is also excellent. Her stories combine her real life adventures and her fantasies, mixing them and blurring them together.
Crepax achieves something only the greatest cartoonists can-he creates a world of his own, unique and consistent and like nothing else.
This is the comics book of the year. Thanks, Fantagraphics.
