Alan Redpath (1907-1989) left a position as an accountant to answer God's call to preach the gospel. Glad to have this in the rear-view mirror

It was really a struggle to finish this book. While the quality of the author's writing is better than average, the tone he takes often makes me feel like I'm not his audience. It seems like he assumes elements of connection "everyone must have thought this...." Well, I've certainly never thought that.
The first time I had that reaction, I thought it was just me, but we read this in my men's group and I found that others had a similar response.
It seems like the scholarship is good, but some of his pronouncements/conclusions seem very much over the top. You must do this, or you must not do this.... if I were a younger believer, I'd feel like there was little hope for a sinner such as me.
Having said all that, I'm really glad I read it. But I'm even more glad that I'm finished reading it.

Great book!

So far I like this book VERY much! Only a couple things that I disagree with, but to each their own. What Alan says about David, though, is spot on. Love it.
